The Young Ringers meet each Wednesday evening 5.30-6.30pm. You will find us in the training centre at St Peter Mancroft Church. To access this come through the black gates at the bottom of the tower, to your right there is a tiny door, enter this and climb the spiral staircase to the first large door. You see it's already starting to sound like an adventure!
We can teach you to ring if you've never rung before. If you have already started ringing then we can help you develop your ringing beyond learning to ring a bell through to ringing with others and learning how to ring methods, methods are bell ringers music, and it's all done from memory. Here is an example of one of our methods.
When you are ringing you need to be wearing clothing that is comfortable as you stretch up, a long top is ideal as you don't want a gap as you ring with your arms stretched up above your head. No scarfs or school ties. If you have long hair that it be tied back.
We can teach from age 7+ but the important thing is that you can stay still and concentrate and have reasonable coordination. You don't need to be big and strong!
The session is led by experienced ringers who are members of the Association of Ringers Teachers, they have been trained to teach bellringing and all are DBS checked
